The 1DOF Trebuchet
The 1 Degree-of-Freedom (DOF) trebuchet is nothing more than a catapult! The relevant dimensions are shown in the figure above. L1 is the length between the main pivot and the counterweight, L 2 is the length between the main pivot and the projectile, w and t are the height and thickness of the arm, respectively. The height of the pivot, h0, must not be greater than L2 or the trebuchet won't have a valid starting angle.
